SOS Children’s Villages Serbia

Since 2004, SOS Children’s Villages Serbia have been providing support to children and youth without parental care and at risk of losing it, as well as youth from vulnerable groups, on the way to economic independence.

 

In the general population of Serbia there is around 730,000 beneficiaries of the Centers for Social Work, of which 25% are children. This means that every fourth vulnerable person in Serbia is a child.

 

SOS Children’s Villages Serbia are member association of SOS Children’s Villages International. Worldwide, SOS Children’s Villages have been present in more than 130 countries and territories for 74 years.

 

For the last ten years, the focus of organisation's work has been on preventive programs and support for families.

Through programs, SOS Children’s Villages Serbia have helped:

  • In SOS Children’s Village in Kraljevo - 167 children and youth from all over Serbia

  • Through “Family Strengthening Program” - more than 1100 families and 2400 children and young people, in nine cities in Serbia

  • In Center “Strong Youngsters” - over 700 young people

  • Through the Program of Emergency Help “Solidarity” over 100,000 children and adults affected by the refugee crisis

BSN Trust is a long-term donor of SOS Children's Village Serbia and reliable partner thanks to which the organization provides adequate and continuous support to children, youth and families at risk. With his donation, he supports the Family Strengthening Program in Kraljevo. The donation is aimed at the activities of individual and group counselling of families at risk, the provision of urgent material assistance for the most vulnerable families (food, medicine, clothing), the acquisition of educational materials...

Family Strengthening Program suppors families with complex social needs and a significant risk that their children will be placed in alternative care due to neglect, abuse, domestic violence, and/or abandonment. The support lasts by individual needs, on average 12 months and a maximum of 18 months.

SOS Children’s Villages Serbia works with the family through holistic aproach: Advisory work adapted to each family; Individual and group work with parents and children; Field work (yearly cover a distance of 90.000 km which is equivalent length of two times travel around the globe).
